General information about Budva
The area around Budva is comprised of two neighboring bays: Budva and Bečići.
Budva town is the area most people think of when you mention Budva. It’s filled with restaurants, nightclubs, and cafes (as well as the ancient Old Town). The energy is very young and lively, with parties going on well into the wee hours of the morning. During the day, the beaches are packed with a mix of students, couples, and young families.
Bečići, the bay on the right, is a (relatively) family-friendly version of Budva town. There are definitely still parties to be had, but the energy is much calmer and more easy-going. The beaches, in general, are more secluded and relaxed than the ones in Budva. Staying in Bečići is also generally a bit cheaper than staying in Budva.

Best beaches in Budva town
Slovenska plaža
This is the main beach in Budva. Although it’s not the nicest beach you can find in the area, it wins points for being easily accessible and open to everyone. The beach itself is a mix of coarse sand and rocks. Slovenska plaža has both paid lounge chairs (between 15€ and 25€ per person) and a free section. There are plenty of restaurants and bars lining the beach as well, although they are a bit more expensive than others.
Mogren beach
Mogren beach is a secluded, sandy beach surrounded by rocky cliffs. The clean, blue water is perfect for swimming as it’s mostly sheltered from larger ocean waves. You’ll find plenty of paid sun loungers here, as well as a café right onshore. Mogren beach can get pretty crowded in the afternoons, so I’d recommend coming early if you want to get a spot on a chair.
Look out for a small, wooden bridge connecting the two cliffsides at Mogren beach (called Door in Stone on Google Maps). It’s super fun to walk across and it makes for a fun photo op!
Best beaches in Bečići
Kamenovo plaža
Kamenovo plaža is a wide, rocky beach with a roped-off swimming area. As with most Montenegrin beaches, there are both paid sun loungers and free spots. If you opt to spend the day in the free area, I’d highly recommend bringing your own umbrella (or other source of shade). The combination of rocks and cliffs all around made the sun’s rays feel extra hot.
To get to Kamenovo plaža from Bečići, you’ll need to walk through this super cool tunnel built into the cliffside. At the end, there are usually women selling fresh fruits and vegetables. Make sure to get some watermelon to stay hydrated while in the sun!
Bečići plaža
Bečići plaža is Bečići’s main beach, stretching nearly 1.2 mi (2 km) long. Like the main beach in Budva town, Bečići plaža has heaps of sun loungers, bars, and restaurants running its length. It’s also very accessible, with a wide walking path and many parking lots running parallel to the beach.
Bečići plaža is one of the more popular beaches in the area, so you’ll often find it pretty crowded all the way down. If you’re looking for a bit more seclusion, try heading towards the middle of the beach instead of the ends.
Public stone beach
Public stone beach (what a creative name!) was my favorite beach in Budva. It’s small and sheltered between a few large rock formations that jut out into the water. The best part of this beach for me was the shallow depth and large rocks in the water — it made it really easy to just chill without getting exhausted. I loved perching myself on a half-submerged rock and floating in the warm ocean.
There is also a very cool lounge slash restaurant just across from Public stone beach. Their cappuccinos, pizzas, and calamari were all very good (and pretty inexpensive).
